Using a simple handheld remote and 9-foot cord, you can control the direction of this combination 500,000-candlepower spotlight/cold cathode area light from anywhere in the boat. The light can be rotated 340° horizontally as well as 180° vertically for instant illumination right where you need it. The weather-resistant housing adheres to the surface of your boat with a powerful suction mount. The Marine unit is equipped with stainless steel hardware in the housing and tinned wiring for added corrosion resistance. It comes with a 15-foot, 12-volt power cord Available:
If we had read the reviews before we purchased this light, we probably would not have bought it (due to the poor reviews) however, since we already ordered it we've found it to be a great addition to our boat. The suction cup is so large that it'll stick very well to most surfaces but when you first use it you have to pivot the light (remotely) so you have the leverage to turn the suction cup wrench. Be sure that the suction cup and the mounting area is clean and DRY do not moisten. This is imperative IT MUST BE DRY, DRY DRY. The light has a cool safety feature that turns off the spot light when you pivot it downward (this prevents the heat from the light from melting the housing if it's to remain for any length of time. Most people mentioned that the rotating motor was jerky or didn't turn smoothly. We found this to be a power supply problem. If your cigarette plug cannot support the power demand of this light, PLUS the remote control motor simultaneously, you can expect problems with the rotating motor to be jerky or not work at all (due to the lack of power). Not all cigarette plugs can pull enough power to support the light and the rotating motor at the same time so you'll have to try using a "portable power supply" if you experience this problem. Here's a picture of our portable battery power that handles this light easily. We just plug it directly into this unit and VOILA!! instant LIGHT!!
This ligth seems to be good case of you get what you pay for. It worked the first time. Light is bright, range of motion was good but herky jerky in rotation. After the second use it became a NO vertical motion light. At this point in time it is a No Motion Light....I advise you to Not Buy this light.
I bought this light for my duck boat, mounted it with the mounting kit, that was a pain to get by the way. The light worked great the first time out. The second time out I had a hard time getting the light to come on. The motor that turns the light in different positions stop working on the third time out. The light is a manual turn light now. I wouldn't recommend this light, for the price you would expect this to be a good product. Save your money
