This is my second Shimano Compre rod. This one piece ultralight rod is well balanced and extremely sensitive. The Compre product line is an all around great value and a strong competitor to much more expensive rods . I am very happy with my new Trout rod!
I own a Shimano Crucial that I use for walleye on lake Erie. I bought the Compre because I wanted a faster action rod for smallies and perch. Turns out I actually prefer this rod to the Crucial for prespawn jigging for walleye. It's tough and has a lot more action. Highly recommended!
I bought this rod on sale which made it a lot of rod for the money. Actually it's a bargain at the full price and I wish Shimano hadn't discontinued this version in favor of a split foam grip on the new model. This is one of my favorite rods to do any type of lighter fishing . The cork handle with the cork filler between the reel seats looks classic and feels better than most any other type. The quality of manufacture is excellent. I have more expensive rods, but this rod outclasses most of them. I even pass up my Crucial and grab this rod.
IM8 graphite, it can take a little abuse, and still be super light & sensitive....I have about 5 other Shimano sticks, including 3 (IM7) Clarus, and this is a way better stick! Trolled Lake Michigan at night & broke it in last weekend with a nice 4 lb. walleye. I am going to use the rod a LOT - just what I was looking for! The cut out grip for your finger is the crowning "touch".....
