Shakespeare® Ugly Stik® Lite Spinning Rods

You’ve depended on the originals for years because of their incredible durability and responsiveness. Well, the folks at Shakespeare have built upon this legendary performance with their latest addition to the Ugly Stik line, the Ugly Stik Lite. These  spinning rods are crafted with a higher graphite content for dramatically enhanced sensitivity and lighter, slimmer profiles. All models have blank-through-handle construction for maximum strength and sensitivity and the exclusive quick-taper Clear Tip® design. Ugly Stik Lites have top-grade cork handles with comfort-fit reel seats, along with graphite twist-lock reel seats. And each has black stainless steel guide frames with aluminum oxide inserts. The ferrule-less design on these two-piece rods give you the strength and feel of a one-piece rod.

Good Sensativity, Ugly stik strength!

I bought this 6' rod in the spring along with a Shimano spinning reel to go after bass. I run 10 lb. braided line and this combination is very smooth.
This rod is very sensitive but yet strong. I've gotten a few decent sized bass this season and have not felt fatigued (or worried about breaking) while battling them in comparison with using other lightweight equipment. My father has been using the same Ugly Stik rod for more than 20 years. I will continue to use this setup and hope my Ugly Stik Lite will last that long. I am very satisfied with my purchase.

I recently bought this rod from Cabelas and tried it out today. I fish for anything that bites. This rod was more sensitive than my other 6'6" standard ugly stik rod. I was casting out with a 1/2 bass casting sinker and felt every nuisance of the bottom thie lake I was at. I tried both rods out to see just how they performed. The ugly stik lite kicked the butt out of the other one hands down. I was able to catch quite a few shad that went to the blue heron that happned to be on the dock. I was able to feel the bluegills bite alot better with this rod. From now on, this is my go to rod for all my future fishing trips. Might have to buy a few more to replace the other rods I have.
