Just a great fishing rod

Bought 2 of the 6'6" Shakespeare ugly stik spinning rods for my wife and she wanted the 6' model so kept them for myself. We live on a lake and fish just about everyday on our boat. Have caught fish from 1 to 10+ lbs on these rods and the action is just great and no problem holding up landing big fish. We now own 6 ugly stik rods and will be replacing the other 4 in the near future so at the end all 10 will be shakespeare ugly stik. Just a great rod

Excellent all around fishing rod

I bought the 7' medium Lady Ugly Stik for my wife a couple of years ago. She had previously broken her wrist so what works best for her with this rod is a trigger spincast reel.
She likes this rod and it does make an excellent all around fishing rod. It is stiff enough for casting for bass. It is limber enough for trolling for walleye or jigging for panfish. It is very strong, this rod has been bent over double with the tip bent around to the handle with no problems at all. I do not recommend treating a rod that way. Sometimes you are lucky enough to hook onto that very large pike that you was not even fishing for when you did not have the drag on the reel properly set.
She uses this rod with either a 276i Abu Garcia or a Zebco 33T Gold spincast reels. With Trilene XL10# in one reel and 6# in the other it gives even more versatility to the fishing trip.
This lady version has a slimmer shaft than that of the original ugly stick of the same ratings. The handle is slightly smaller in diameter to suit the ladies along with some pink trim on the rod.

I actually purchased 4 of these, going on the reputation as well as my experience with other Ugly Stiks. These are JUNK!!! Every single one of them broke in the same way. It has a two piece eye. The inside piece popped out and then the outside piece cracked. These rods were kept in holders when not in use, so they were not abused. I contacted the manufacturer to inform them of this design flaw and didn't even get the courtesy of an answer. This particular model has serious design problems, avoid it!!!
