QuickFire Good for Quick Repetitive Casting
Date:
I am a very serious and committed fisherman - have hundreds of rods and reels, fish for anything and everything in fresh & salt, and I fish almost every day. I got my first QuickFire reels as part of rod & reel combos that I bought at a liquidation. Never even saw, much less tried QuickFire before. I removed the QuickFire reels from the combos, used the foremerly combo rods with some of my traditional spinning reels, and put the unused QuickFire reels in my overstock box with the intent of selling them. But before selling the QuickFire reels I decided to try one to see if it was just a gimmick or really useful and to see how the reel peformed. I hooked myself on QuickFire reels better than I have ever hooked any fish, and the reason is that the QuickFire feature allows you to make single handed casts with no wasted motions very rapidly - just as rapidly as a skilled baitcaster can with a baitcasting reel. However, the QuickFire spinning reels have a BIG advantage over baitcasting reels: you can easily cast very much lighter baits much longer distances, with much fewer casting bird's nests, with QuickFire spinning than you can with any baitcasting reel because of the physics of intertia and momentum required to move and then stop the baitcasting reel spool. I routinely use my QuickFire spinning reels with 6lb test braid and 1/8 oz jigs on 8ft and 9ft rods and can easily cast 25ft-35ft and recast with one hand the instant that I have retrieved - you cannot do that with any other reel. After I made this discovery, I switched over to QuickFire spinning reels for all my low-end fishing that the available QuickFire spinning reel range can cover and am instead selling all of my low-end conventional spinning reels. I am always amazed at how much can be discovered by just trying new technology, techniques, etc. Really pays to keep an open mind and try everything.

Great reel
Date:
Live on a lake and go fishing on our boat just about every day. Bought 2 for my wife and like them so much that I ordered 2 for myself to replace my 30 yr old shimano quick fire reels which I still use today on my spare rods. Have caught fish from 1 to 10+lbs and these new shimano reels did the job with no problem. Easy to cast and reel in and the quick fire casting system is a real plus. With any luck they should last me at least 30+yrs like my old ones.

Best reel out there for the price
Date:
Shimano is now the only brand I will buy I have tried Pflueger, Daiwa, Quantum and some others brands all have had the bail fail in less than a year I have a couple of Shimano that are over 25 year old and they still flip every time. Sorry but I have tried the other brands in the 50$ and under and they just don\u2019t hold up

Great little Freshwater Reel
Date:
I use the 2500FG model with 6# line. This is a great little reel. I love the Quick Fire accessory and will not fish with anything else now. Thats why I stay with either the Spirex or the Syncopate, but I see little difference between the two reels except the price. I fish at least once a week for bass and I have no complaints about this reel. I'm just about finishing my second season with this reel and there are still no complaints. (except wishing it would entice larger bass!) Other than that, as I said, "A great little reel"!
