Made of reinforced carbon fiber, the Stradic CI4 uses the lightest material to create a lightweight reel ideally suited to finesse baitfishing. EVA handle grip complements the ultrahigh-end rod design. The reel has a maintenance port, floating shaft, waterproof drag and direct-drive mechanism. Super Stopper II® anti-reverse roller bearing and repairable clicker. Designed to be used with 3, 5 and 5-lb. Power Pro.

The Ci4100FML (MicroLine) reel was built as part of Shimano’s technical fishing system for light-line fishing. This reel was designed to fish 5-lb. and lighter Power Pro with a new drag system that allows you to fish without concern when fishing these lighter lines. Match the reel up with an Ultra Light rod, such as Loomis’ Trout and Panfish Series plus Power Pro line and you have the ultimate light-line fishing system.

unbeliveable performance

After alot of research I decided to buy the CI4 for in shore and near off shore because of price and features especially the drag. I considered the sustain but the price was a little high for something I would use mabey ten days a year as I live in Michigan. I spooled it with 20 lbs. power pro slick on a MH, TFO rod and it was flawless. We caught all kinks of reef fish 8 lb. Sheepshead 5 lb. Grouper big reds and some jacks and pompano but this reel really showed its stuff when I hooked a 10 lb. Tunny it took 200 yards of line and I kept tightening the drag and it was so smooth I couldn't believe it this reel has the best drag system I have seen on a spinning reel. We caught some big fish and gave this reel a real workout and it was flawless. I can't say enough about how well the drag system is I would buy this reel again and highly recommend it you won't be dissapointed I guarantee.

awesome reel

Purchased CI4 1000 size for trout fishing in streams. Great for precision casting, and has no sloppy play which results in quick hook-ups on finicky trout. Also the drag is very adjustable and will handle those occasional 24" lunkers.

Smoothest Reel Ive ever owned

Ive had This reel for 3 months now it replaced my Quantum Tenacity that i was using with my 6"6 Abu Garcia Veritas Medium. I fish about 5 times a week depending on weather ect. Im very impressed with this reel, Ill agree the price is steep but if you trust the brand like i do this is worth it. No complaints here.

As the title says, this is truly a fine reel. Good balance, well constructed, smooth drag, excellent casting. I have mine mounted on a 6.5' St. Croix premier rod and spooled with 10 lb. Power Pro braid. I have to say that it took half a day's fishing to get used to the very light weight of this carbon fiber reel.
I was a bit suspicious that it would not stand up to the challenge when I hooked my first heavy pike. When the time came however, the reel performed flawlessly and all my doubts disappeared.
Why others do not like the handle design I cannot say. Because it's different? No complaints here. My one complaint however, like that of others, is that the reel does not ship with a second spool. At this price a spare should definitely be part of the package. While certainly not a deal breaker, a definite disappoint, but my only disappointment as far as this fine machine is concerned.
Shimano has given us yet another winner.
