A Fluidrive® II oversized drive gear boosts the efficiency of every retrieve. Propulsion spool lip provides longer casting distances while preventing backlashes. Power Roller® III reduces twist when retrieving. Three A-RB™ ball bearings for smooth retrieves, and a Super Stopper® II anti-reverse roller bearing eliminates backplay and enhances your hook-setting power. S-arm cam keeps slack line in contact with the line roller to further reduce the chance of tangles and line cuts. Slow oscillation promotes even line lay. Floating shaft reduces friction between the pinion gear and spool shaft for smoothness and durability. DynaBalance® rotors eliminate wobble during retrieves. Solid, nonflex aluminum frame. Cold-forged aluminum spool. Machined-aluminum handle. Lightweight graphite sideplate and rotor. Rubber handle grips.

The Sahara is smooth as silk. The drag works wonderfully to bring in those big fish. I would absolutely buy this reel again! Another great product from Shimano.

I have this reel teamed up with a ultra light st. croix avid, just to go out and have a good fight with the fish. This reel by far exceeded my expectations. I also have a CI4 which is also an excellent reel but there are situations where hands down I would rather be using the sahara. WELL worth the money please get it, its smooth, casts excellent. Enjoy.

I like the reel. It's smooth and tight. Drag works well and I had no problems casting 12lb Nanofil line. It's a little hard to crank, feels like maybe the oil/grease they used is a little thick. I didn't really notice it when fishing, but on a long day fishing it could fatigue your arm.The bail release is a bit stiff too, but it will probably loosen up with time. I usually trip it manually anyway. I wish they could have included a second spool at this price.
