Outstanding performance
Date:
Bought this reel at the Buda Cabelas in the bargain bin. Figured it could function as a spare reel. Two years and countless bass later, it has become my go-to reel. Just got back from the coast for it's first taste of the "salt", and it whipped specks, reds, and one 25lb stingray that was snagged. This was the 1300 series at that with 20lb power pro. Talk about a powerful smooth drag! I was so impressed that I just bought two more 1300's for my wife and daughter, and a 1600 for the "Bull Red" run in the fall. You can't go wrong this classic if performance is more important than flash.

Daiwa SS Reel
Date:
One of the best reels on the market. Good reel
for smaller fresh water fish including bass.
I have had many other light water reels thru
many years of fishing .but this reel is the best!

Absolute worst reel i have ever used
Date:
My dad bought this reel for me because he really likes his. the reel is terrible! the anti-reverse doesnt work all, it feels like there are rocks in the crank it is not smooth at all, you cant switch the handle over to the other side without a screwdriver, and i know i didnt get a lemon because my dad has 5 of them. I think the only reason he likes them is becuase he bought them a long time ago, back when they would have been a decent reel about 10 years ago. but thats a long time ago as far as reels go. they are outdated and for half the price you can get a pflueger or shimano that is 10 times better and for the same price you can get a shimano that is 10000 times better. i would not spend 5 dollars on this reel. do NOT buy one of these
