Hit the frozen lakes this season armed with the best gear available. This reel offers the great quality you'd expect from something we'd put the Fish Eagle name on. With three bearing drive and instant anti-reverse this ultralight reel will take on those bruiser bluegills and crabby crappies.
I go bass fishin' and catfishin' with it and pull in 18" bass , 21" channel cats, and 10 lb turtles with this little baby and not a single problem with it. Very smooth, and have had many comments on it. very light, casts extremely well.
I use 30 lb braid line in it, and it will still cast it out there.
I have at least 2 of these reels and they are the perfect Ultralight reel if there is such a thing. All reels have changed over my lifetime. They have become better, lighter and cheaper. I purchased my first Alcedo Micron in 1959. I bought a 2nd one in the 90's I think I may have bought it through Cabela's. The Alcedo was made the way a true Ultralight reel should be made. Light, compact and sturdy. This FE500ULB is comparable to the Alcedo. Alcedo went out of business some time in the 90's. If you enjoy Ultralight fishing as much as I do this reel is for you. I've caught plenty of 5 pound Smallies on this baby and it is, without a doubt, the sweetest little Ultralight reel I've seen since the Alcedo Micron.
i just got this and couldn't wait to try it out i read the reviews on this and when i saw it was on back order i called and found out they only had a few on hand i couldn't beleave how smooth it brought in a 14" trout i have other reels like this one from cabela's and they are the same as this one but not ul i'm hoping to catch another 19" trout on the pole i put this on to see how it will do i'm going to replace the other reels i have that are not cabela's with this reel
