Okuma Epixor Baitfeeder Reels

  • On/Off auto-trip baitfeeding function
  • Quick-set anti-reverse roller bearing
  • Precision machine-cut brass pinion gear
  • Rigid forged-aluminum handle design
  • Hydro Block watertight drag seal
  • Nine stainless steel ball bearings
Baitfeeder reels contain 10 bearings (nine ball bearings and a one-way clutch bearing) for amazingly smooth retrieves, and they boast a baitfeeding design for more control when fishing live bait. In the baitfeeder mode, the spool releases line without the bail being open and keeps it under slight tension to keep control of the bait fish swimming around in the water. When the fish comes and takes the bait, the spool lets out line under the slightly heavier tension so it won't feel your resistance until you're ready. Engage the reel and set the hook. The Rotor Equalization system makes for a wobble-free retrieve, so you can fish all day long in comfort. It has a titanium-coated stainless steel spool rim for long casts and durability. Okuma Extra Drag System uses oversized stainless steel and felt washers to dissipate heat and put the brakes on trophy-sized fish. The Rotor Equalization system makes for a wobble-free retrieve, so you can fish all day long in comfort. Includes a FREE spare graphite spool.

Bait'em Up
Date:
The Okuma Epixor Baitfeeder is one of the best overall spinning reels out there. Great line capacity for both fresh and salt water use. Whether offering live bait under a slip bobber or free swiming bait it has a great range of drag adjustment for a wide variety of bait sizes. Very smooth and sensitive operating drag and line retrieve. Have used this reel on a wide selection of rod sizes very effectively. So far I have used this reel chasing large Northern Pike and big Striped Bass. Handles fish between 10 and 50 pounds with great ease and I'm sure would do the same for much bigger fish when the opportunity presents itself! Looking forward to ice out~

Okuma EB50 Baitfeeder Spinning Reel
Date:
I was looking for a reasonably priced spinning reel to fill the gap between my Shimano Stradic FI6000 (for surfcasting) and my Cabelas Salt Striker SS-30/Salt Striker Travel rod combo (for off the dock/inshore saltwater/kayak/float tube). I also wanted to add a baitfeeder spinning reel to the mix. Reading reviews & catalogs, I narrowed my choices down to the Okuma EB50 & Shimano Baitrunner. Shimano quality is always Top-Notch, and my StradicFI is a real work of art at a mid-range price. But at almost 1/2 the price, I took a chance on the Okuma. I am not disappointed that I did!
The reel is very solid & silky-smooth. No doubt the 9+1 bearings have something to do with that. The quality looks to be very good-it's a nice looking reel. With a little care & maintenance it should last for years. The only thing is, even though the EB50 is lighter @ 17.4oz as opposed to the StradicFI @ 21.0, the Okuma is larger in size. No problem, though - with the money I saved on the EB50, I went back and ordered the smaller EB30 and STILL came out ahead! Hope this helps in choosing your next reel.

Shiny but disapointing
Date:
I bought the 5000 series reel for a trip to east cape baja. The bait feeder function failed on the second day. I also bought one of the cabela brand saltist reels for nearly half the price and it ran sweet and smooth all week. I'm taking the okuma back in the morning.

Best ever reel
Date:
I bought a Okuma Epixor bait feeder reel back in 2003. Since that thim I have had zero problems with it. it is smooth reeling. the one way clutch action works very well. the bait feed setting and the drag settings always perform with out a problem. I bought a second one this year for my second rod. I use it in the ocean always and it still work excellent. The outside coating is still in great shape as well. I have had many reels in the past and they all are junk now. They last a few years and then stop working. I recommend this real to anyone that wants a care free operation for many years...
