I purchased two of these for my daughters (9) for Christmas. Finally had a chance to use them today. The rod is average at best. The reel is junk, Could not get ether of them to cast reliably. You can get a few decent casts then the line would hang up in the reel and cast short. You can feel the line coming out of the reel. One of the push buttons even began to fail about an hour in to our fishing trip. Ive purchased many Cabela's branded items and they have always been great value. This time was a great disappointment.

rod won't hold up long

I bought this to fish small streams for trout and liked it very much until one day reeling in a 14" brown trout the rod snapped in half. I had only had this combo a few months when this happened. I still like the reel but the rod itself is very cheap,

Marginal, even for the kids

Last season I purchased two "all pro combos" for my kids who love to fish and are good at it and they were great! The rod was easy to handle, yet it had enough backbone to set the hook on smallmouth and fight decent sized fish. The reels were simple, didn't twist the line (much) and cast easily and smoothly....this season I purchased the one's pictured to keep up at the Lake, but although it has the same name, it is an entirely different rod and reel combo. The reel is not very smooth and twists the line. The rod is whippy with little backbone, and the combo is not well balanced. I gave it two stars because of the low price and they are functional, but I'd only consider these beginners targeting panfish.
