Minn Kota® Freshwater Engine Mount Motors

  • Turn a recreation boat into a fishing machine
  • Rides out of water when on plane
  • Maximizer Technology
  • Five times longer run time on a single charge.
Invisibly turn a recreation boat into a fishing boat. These motors mount on the cavitation plate of your outboard or I/O lower unit without hindering performance. Once on plane, the EM Motor rides completely out of the water. Speed is controlled by a corded remote control and you can steer with the boat's steering wheel. All electronics are housed in a fully waterproof control module. Maximizer technology controls the draw of power at infinitely variable speeds to eliminate wasted energy and conserve battery power. Weedless Wedge II prop. is 100% weedless. Two year warranty.

ele motors only
Date:
I bought this mk101 36 volt engine mount for my 20 foot bass buggie pontune boot witch is on a electrice motors only lake. I only had a 40 hr outboard that is just on the boat . and I knew there would not be 13 inch`s of water above the plate it is to be mounted to, so I turned it down and had to mount it to 2 pieces of 2 inch angel iron 1 on each side ( the ouboard was to small ) and let me tell ya it was not hard and it makes a wake in the water , I know it is faster than my bass Boat troller, and the batts last for ever with the maximizer system It is great . no floor mounted motor in the way enymore the only way to go thanks MINNKOTA

Go for more thrust than the 55 lb thrust!
Date:
I purchased the 55 lb thrust for my 17' boat. Cannot get 1.5 mph trolling speed from it. Suggest minimum 80 lb thrust for 16'-18' boat to get correct trolling speed for trout lures.
my 4.3 ltr inboard has a minimum trolling speed of 3.0 mph and is too fast. The 55 lb thrust averages 0.8 mph after about 1 hour of trolling with a new deep cycle 1000 battery. (This is with 3 people in the boat).

36 volt motor on 22 foot pontoon
Date:
I mounted this motor to my 2008 Mercury 115 HP engine. The motor mounted easily. You have to drill 6 holes in cavitation plate. A little scary on a newer engine. Everything went fine. Took me about 4 hours, start to finish. Including hooking up batteries and running all wiring. The 36 volt motor is heavier than I would have thought. Having said that, I am glad I got the "Big Dawg" to push my 22 foot pontoon. It works excellent. It is nice to control the "toon" without running the motor. We can now slow troll for fish, or cruise the shoreline without any noise. Performance wise, I went from 28 mph to 23 mph top end as the pontoon never really gets up on plane. I also have to "baby" the trim more so as not to over rev the engine. I think the unit is displacing the water around the prop more till I get up to speed. Having said that, we use the Minnkota at least 10 times more than the gas engine. Reverse on a pontoon is not an issue, it works just fine. Works great for docking, positioning boat for the sun, etc. I am going to put an override kill switch on so unit cannot be accidently turned on while kids are swimming in the back. Only thing I wish about this motor is I wish I would have purchased it sooner. Its that good and I think an absolute must for pontoon owners.

80lb Engine Mount
Date:
Used the 80lb EM twice and have been quite impressed. It is mounted on my 2005 - 18 foot Glastron fiberglass boat (Volvo Penta engine) with a weight of approx 2,300 pounds. Top speed is around 2.6 mph and after four hours of fishing this only dropped to 2.4 mph. For our location the EM is a big help in launching and loading the boat as we can now easily drive right on the trailer. I can also pull out of the launch area with the EM before trying to start and warm-up my finicky Volvo engine thus giving room to others who are launching. Many rocky areas in our lake which I have stayed away from due to prop damage... I can now pull into these areas with out fear of damage.
Reverse is slow and a little awkward but with practice it should get better. This was the only reasonable option I found for a fiberglass non-fishing boat of this style and fortunately the Glastron has lots of room for the two extra 12 volt batteries.
Install was quite easy and I took the cable under the boats rub rail (transom) and into the engine area to connect with the batteries. Excellent product for my type of boat and have not noticed any change in boat performance.
