great, if it didnt take the finish off the gun!
Date:
I have a little winchester 75 .22, it is old and has been in the family. it works great and i love the dark oil finish on the wood, but when i used this solvent some dripped down the magazine slot and got on the wood! i quickly grabbed a rad and wiped it away, finish and all!!!!! it took tho dark oil color out of the wood and it tiik of the shine to! it works great to clean the bore and it probably says somewhere on the container that it will damage the wood, but that is unacceptable for me. I found that shooters choice (though a little more expensive) works just as well.

Probably the best cleaning product I have run across yet. Tried it out initially on a couple of guns that I thought were clean (patches were coming out white), and was still able to pull a considerable amount of gunk out of the barrels in both cases. Seems it really does get into the pores just as Hoppe's claims. For that matter I have a an old M1917 Enfield that I had previously tried some J-B on to try and clean out the bore, and this system not only did a FAR superior job, but it also is safe on the metal. May take a while for the products to work on guns that are heavily fouled though. Some other observations... Gun cleaner is NOT safe on painted surfaces! Duracote beware! Also Copper Terminator seems to be safe on brass brushes/rods, and safe on bluing as well. Since this system is pricey, may be best to do initial cleaning with standard solvent first. Definitely plan to keep this on my workbench!
