I just received these poles yesterday and took them for a test walk today during lunch. I had no problems at all with them. They are easy to adjust and stay in the position that you lock them in with no issues. I'm not a huge fan of the way the wrist straps are on top of your hand instead of underneath, but I can live with it.
The only way that I could see them breaking at the expansion joints is if you pulled them open too far and then tried to shove them back in with too much sideways force.
Each expanable section has measurement lines so that you can make sure that you always expand them back to the same length.

Not very durable. Be careful extending them out. If you have difficulty the expandable ends snap off........

I bought this set of poles to complete my 2010 snowshoe outfit of shoes, snow boots, special socks and a duffle to carry it all in. The poles were a little better than the 2 section orange colored base models I was looking at as they were able to expand another 10 mm longer which was the deciding factor. These are 3 section black colored poles with very durable hardened tips and ample sized snow baskets on the business ends. The hand straps were also of better quality than their base model counterparts with wider material and a reflective strip built in. Expanding and collapsing the poles was easy and being that they are 3-part poles they get pretty short for easier transport as well. The only complaint I would put forward is in the overall high cost of the poles however I was able to purchase them later in the season for a substantial discount. I would not have purchased this set at full price though.

I wish that they would come in a bigger size for more weight capacity. The product itself stands up to branches and rocks.
