Big Chief needs blanket

I am very happy with my Big Chief smoker but it needs the insulating blanket to get to my desired temperature. I smoke a lot of fish (blue fish, salmon, rainbow trout and scallops and i like to smoke at around 225F. without the blanket the unit was at 180-190F. The units cooks steady at 220-225F with the blanket and out of the wind. Order this when you order the smoker!

The only complaint is that the fit is a little too tight with the side handles mounted on the smoker. It seemed to fit better before I put them on and I may take them back off. There is still a handle on top so they are not absolutely necessary.

smoker insulated blanket

Blanket works well. However it should be about 1 1/2" longer to form a better fit when wrapped around the smoker and a top piece would be nice to trap the heat in extreme cold. When temp gets below 10' F, blanket alone is not enough.
