Initial appearances are very nice, but I am wondering if I received on that was previously sold to someone else. Upon opening to box the paint was bubbled and peeling and rust was present on the metal of the top panel. Additionally, the springs are missing from the door handles (yes, I searched the box again) which hold the doors closed tightly.
Momma always said when you have something negative to say, try to say something positive, so here goes. The temp does hold steady although I do wish it would go higher than 200 degrees. I have had difficulties in finishing or attaining a safe finish temp (internal temp of the meat should be a minimum of 155, 170 would be nice). BUT the temp does hold at 200 degrees F.
I think I will like this smoker with a little time and a few modifications. Although I don't think I should have to do this.
Bought smoker this summer. It was easy to assemble. Food stays moist and has great smoked flavor using mesquite chips. Easy to use and clean up. Smoker maintains even temperature once it gets up to where you want it. Gas use seems reasonable.
Bought this smoker in May 2011, and its been good. Temp gauge seems like its right on, meat i have smoked has all been real good. pretty easy to put together, hope it lasts. I had a charcoal smoker before and this one is much easier to control. i use it often and it always starts and dosent seem to suck down gas. Can get about seven four - five hr cook times out of a 25 lb tank . I like that the meat doesnt burn on outer edges of racks, would like to see a cover made to fit this unit put out on market.
