The Premium Electric Smoker is large enough to handle the biggest smoking job. Three removable porcelain-coated grill racks with four cooking positions let you cook everything from fish and chicken to Boston Butt and turkey. Base has a large wood access door for adding wood chunks or charcoal, and also houses the 1,650-watt electric element and porcelain-coated water bowl. Side shelf, handle and wheels for easy movement. Bottom utility rack provides extra storage space.
Dont let the bad reviews sway you away from this smoker. It is not perfect, but it will do the job.
The reviewers are correct, the water pan DOES sit too low, and my thermometer was defective like many others. Called Cabelas today, and they are sending me a replacement. I may try the water pan mod some others have done (drilling new holes higher up). The door for loading the chips is not designed very well, the water pan being low really hinders chip loading.....but it can be done with some tongs. Also, I have found you get alot better smoke if you start with a small amount of hot charcoal in the chip tray.
Have done multiple batches of venison jerky, and they all turned out excellent. Done pork butt and it too turned out great.
My brother-in-law already owned one of the smokers & we all love his cooking so much & he cooks for so many at a time, my husband decided to get him another smoker for Christmas. He had borrowed other peoples smokers because he didn't have room to cook everything he needed to & after trying different brands & types of smokers, he said his Cabelas smoker was the best. So that's what he got for Christmas. Our family highly recomends it!!
