Great Boat!
Date:
I previously owned a Carstens Pintail boat which I sold to buy this boat. It feels about the same weight as the pintail and it is much more stable in the water.I purchased this boat so I could run a mud motor that I could not mount on the Pintail. I mounted the transom on this boat purchased from Momarsh. The mount was too high so I cut it down 3 inches and mounted the transom so that the mount faces forward to help keep the weight of the motor as far forward as possible. I then mounted my 6 horse Beavertail to the transom. I leave the transom attached to the motor and detach the motor with the three wing nuts that mount the transom to the boat. This allows easy removal of the motor by removing the three wing nuts since the Beavertail does not have a quick detachment like a Mud Buddy Motor.
The set up works awesome. No boat landing needed and no trailer. Just load the motor and boat side by side in the bed of the a full size truck. When grassed up this boat is stealth. It is a little pricy but worth it when you want to hunt layout style and you need to get across the lake, you don't have to break out the push pole. The bonus is it still poles nicley with the Beavertail attached. I highly reommend this boat. Just remember to stack the weight ( decoys, guns, etc. in the front to keep the bow down. If your debating about buying the boat just do it. You will not be disapointed!

MOmarsh Fatboy DP Combo
Date:
I bought one of the Fatboy DP off of Ira almost 3 years ago and have used it on several occasions with great success.
With the removable transom I use a 2 1/2 hp outboard and the prop only sticks in the water about 6 inches making it perfect for shallow water travel. I've successfully used it in fresh water marsh as well is on salt water estuaries on several different species of birds. Setting up for divers this year as well.
It's an awesome rig to get you out where other hunters can't hide. In my area there can be a lot of pressure around the edges pushing the birds to flock up in the middle where my Chessie and I lay in wait.
The camo deck cover makes it easy to collect and ad local vegetation from the surrounding area to make the boat disappear.
Boat loads / transports easily in the back of a pickup truck, plenty of space for one hunter, dog, and decoys. I really like the dog cockpit situated behind the hunter keeping him hidden and safe. I give it two thumbs up.
