great deal
Date:
i bought this slicer even though the reviews werent all that good--i used it to slice up deboned deer meat--it performed very well-super quick--as for the noise--what noise--low noise level with the one i have--it cleaned up easy --only thing that may be a neg is the plastic piece u slide the meat with--have to be careful not to drop it but it works well--it may not be a professional slicer but i can assure u it works great as a home slicer--any game hunter needs one of these-it will make your game animal ready for the freezer 10 times faster

It slices but...

I give it one star because it's cheap and it does slice...unevenly! The plastic holding arm broke the second time I used it. I guess with this one, you get what you pay for.

Worth the price
Date:
After reading some of the reviews, I opted to purchase this refurbished slicer. I have had it a week now and have used it several times. Yes, it's a bit noisy; the slide doesn't slide very easy on its return to home position, but it handles everything I have thrown at it quite well for a home-type slicer. It's not a commercial grade slicer and won't do the very heavy work, but deer sausage, venison ham or slicing for jerky, etc., it works well. And with a price of under $50, you just can't go wrong. Oh, and the ease of cleaning isn't as bad as some of these posts are stating. Nice little addition to my kitchen!

Good HOME Quality Slicer
Date:
This slicer was excellent for my home. I was tired of spending a fortune on roast beef for sandwiches at the deli. I bought this slicer amid some negative comments. I have no regrets, and I am very pleased with it. I wrapped a small roast up in tin foil with a bunch of spices and put it on low heat on my grill for about an hour and a half. I let the roast cool down for about a half hour and sliced it warm on the slicer. I was expecing it to go slow and not work well, but that was not the case at all. The slicer worked very well and cut the meat without a problem. I had very nice uniform slices and the meat tasted so good compared to deli meat. The slicer cut right through the fibers of the meat without a problem at all. I also didn't end up with a big chunck at the end. I had a small piece that I broke in half and gave to my two dogs as a treat. NOW for the not so good..... The slicer is not easy to clean. You can unscrew the blade easily with a screwdriver. I put the blade, the screw fastener, and the plastic meat pusher in the dishwasher. However, the other parts do not come off so they must be manually washed by hand. I used a solution of vinegar and water with a rag. I recommend spraying some vegetable oil spray on the inside of the blade to lubricate it. It's also a little loud - it reminds me of a vacuum cleaner noise and loudness. This certainly isn't a slicer to use all the time because it takes so long to clean. I recommend you slice your meats once a week and vacuum seal them. Also, don't try to use this slicer like a commercial slicer. This is a HOME slicer and really isn't commercial grade. Overall, I am very happy with this slicer. It has performed much better than I expected, and the price was excellent.
