Sea to Summit Mosquito Shelters

  • Black multifilament poly netting
  • Asymmetrical center hanging point
  • Light and compact for travel
  • Perfect for backpacking in bug-infested regions
These compact Mosquito Shelters are indispensable when traveling or backpacking in bug-infested regions. The black mesh netting is made from a multifilament polyester that offers better visibility than white mesh. The fine, 500 holes per square inch hexagonal mesh prevents most insects from entering. The asymmetrical center hanging point gives practical headroom and uses less netting than other shelters with a center hanging point, keeping the unit lighter and more compact. Color-coded corners cut down on setup time and stress. Tuck-in sides offer extra protection. Handy stuff sack included for easy packing. Height adjustable. Double version has 22" spreader pole which packs down to just 6".
Available:
  • Single – 7'3"L x 4'W x 3'6"H, 9-oz., packs to 5" x 4".
  • Double – 7'10"L x 5'6"W x 4'3"H, 13.3-oz., packs to 7" x 5".
  • Text Size: AAA

    So far, so good...
    Date:
I purchased the Double-wide net, made for two. The first thing that caught my eye is the compact size, about the size of the oil filter on my truck. Can easily clip onto the outside of my pack without any worries. Comes with a compression sack, nice. Inside the compression sack is the net that pulls out very easily, doesn't snag on the inside of the bag at all.
Also inside the sack, it a small pocket sewn into the side for the small shock pole. Clever design. Nothing else to assemble. Slide the shock pole into the top of the netting, then hang it up. There is rope already attached to the netting for hanging this, and the rope is adjustable! Another plus. Grab each corner, pull them out a bit and keep them in place with some small tent spikes (not included). Now you're done, unless you're me and want to still place your 5x7' tarp down, prior to placing your pad and then bag.
The only draw back I had on this is the top of the tent, where you install the shock cord has a small amount of velcro on it. This velcro is designed to hold the shock pole in place when it's installed, but mine is a bit too tight. When I removed the pole for the first time, the plastic tip of the pole would not come out with ease. I have a system to remove it now, very easily, but the first time will catch you off guard, so set it up once or twice in your house prior to wondering out into the field.
When set up, the net measures 5'6"wide x 7'10" long x 4'3" tall, so it's not made to set up and party in all night, but it does allow you to sit up in bed and read a little. Matter of fact, there's enough room for two adults to sleep length-wise, and a child to sleep width-wise comfortably. And being all mesh, no worries of condensation by morning...

    Great Mosquito Shelter
    Date:
Light weight and durable. Hugs the ground tight and seals out the bugs. Roomy enough for two adults and a 10 year old child. Saved our bites.

My son and I used these on bunks in a very basic cabin in the remote Northern Ontario bush. Result: no mosquito or black fly attacks while asleep.

Don't purchase the Summit Mosquito Shelter
    Date:
My daughter purchased this needed product as she's currently studying abroad in a tropical climate. The "pole" that was supposed to be included with the double shelter wasn't included with the product. So, right from the beginning the product had a missing part. This "double" shelter is only adequate for one person. Additionally, the product started to rip. Don't waste money on this product. When she returns from her study abroad, I'm sending this product back for a refund.
