Cabela's Self-Inflating Air Bed - Per Each

Like our popular Alaskan Guide sleeping pads, these thick, comfortable air beds include an innovative self-inflating air chamber that eliminates the need for pumps. Just open the valve and the bed inflates automatically. Deflates just as easily - open the valve, roll up, secure the attached compression straps and close the valve. This pad is over 4" thick with a soft convoluted foam interior that insulates you from the cold ground and cushions against bumps, rocks, sticks and uneven spots and provides maximum comfort. It also makes a great spare bed at home or in the RV. The flocked PVC top keeps your sleeping bag from sliding off during the night. Bottom is constructed of durable 150-denier polyester to guard against tears and punctures. Oversized design accommodates large-framed campers, or join two or more pads together using the attached hook-and-loop strips to create a larger sleeping surface that's perfect for couples. Imported. Per each.

Bed Wouldn't Inflate
Date:
My wife and I bought two of these pads a few years back and are happy with them. However, the last one we bought recently was not good at all. We got to our campsite, opened the valves and nothing happened. The older pads were up and ready in a matter of minutes, but the new one (which looks the same) did not inflate over the entire weekend. One good thing about it was that it was really easy to roll up and return. I'm not sure if Cabela's has changed something internally or if we just got a lemon. Advice: Test it at home before heading out. Luckily, we had back ups.

Worth it !
Date:
I recently got this matress for a camping trip to Pulaski NY for Salmon fishing, and it was based on the reviews I read here. I knew I was going to be staying a week there and the last thing I wanted to deal with was after spending 10 to 12 hours a day standing in a river, was a uncomfortable nights sleep. My decision was based on matress thickness and that's exactly what I got, and it also was very comfortable and I slept well. As others have said if it felt too firm just let some air out, because there is still a nice foam base to it.
When the trip was over, It rolled right up "with some effort", but I did it only once and back in the carry bag it went. I have to add I got it on sale too!
Cabelas always surprises me with the quality and price for the things we outdoorsman are looking for.
Thanks

A COMFORTABLE NIGHTS SLEEP
Date:
This is a quality product. It does a fine job for its intended purpose, which is camping at sites with vehicle unloading access.
The only reason it didn't get 5 stars is its lack of self inflating characteristics. It partially inflates, then requires more than a few extra full lung puffs to finish the job. A small inconvenience, but noteworthy.
I bought two of these and they velcro together very nicely. My girlfriend and I have used them both this past Fall and Winter. They provide great insulation from the ground when its is cold. They are very comfortable with the combination of foam & air. They hold air all night without sagging. For the second nights sleep, one or two puffs brought them back to fully inflated.
Durability appears to be robust. This is the first season of use, and I'm expecting them to hold up over time.
These are a great addition to our car camping set up. I recommend them.

I good nights sleep
Date:
The mattress preformed as advertised. It feels like foam when you lay on it, which is as it should be. The softness can be adjusted by just letting some air out. It's more like memory foam than regular foam.
I packed it in may luggage on a flight to the islands. It took up about half the suitcase. I used it for 6 nights with no problem. It seems okay for just throwing down on a concrete floor if need be.
It's a little large for backpacking unless you don't mind the load. It would sure be nice to have every night.
If you have the space/weight get a double size. It would allow room for two or one can spread out. The single wide I had, had no room for company. Two singles velcro'ed together will have a divide down the middle with no foam support.
The mattress rolled up well, small enough to get back in the bag easily. Just roll up once then shut the air intake, roll up again half way they let more air out, finish rolling up the mattress with the air valve open, then close the valve with it rolled up tight. Stuff in the bag and you're gone.
