If you are looking into a Soule sight, look no farther. this soule sight set not only look great it works perfectly, the machining is excellent, all fitting fit tite so the sight stays on the right ajustment you have set, there is just enough play in the upright shaft so the sight gently falls farword after each shot so as to take up the shock of my Sharps 45/70. The level on the front tunnel sight is a must if you are shooting out past 300 yards, and the ajustable eye piece is nessasary if your eyes are getting a little old. I was so happy with mine that I bought one for my wife's Springfield trapdoor 45/70. happy shooting, Gifford.
I was a little taken aback initially upon receipt of the sight because the instructions for installation were limited and not written in English. However, I did manage to mount the sight after making a small alteration to the rear mounting screw hole (the hole is designed to accomodate small variances in the distance between the front and rear mounting holes, but, the distance needed to be elongated to match my rifle). A little grinding with my hand held grinder extended the mounting hole and the remainder of the installation went without incident. I bore sighted the rifle and the first shot from the rifle found the target and I didn't need to adjust the sights from their original position. I am shooting a Sharps 45-70 and the sights remained centered and didn't react negatively to the Sharp's recoil. I am well pleased with what I consider to be a good product, fairly priced.
I mounted the Pedersoli midrange sight on a Pedersoli Adobe Walls rolling block rifle, and I have used this setup at the range twice. One time at 200 meters and once at 100 meters. The sight, rifle and load proved to be accurate, and repeatable, but there was a glitch when installing the sight. The sight would not fold flat after installation. The index notches at the bottom of the staff had to be judiciously filed and stoned in order for the sight to be folded down. I was a little annoyed at having to do this after spending over $400.00 for the sight combination. I had to place a .003" shim under the right side of the sight base in order to plumb the sight staff, but Pedersoli advised this may have to be done. I had to place a .003" shim under the front sight, in the dovetail also. Once these problems were addressed, the sight combination performed very well, and I am pleased with the overall result. I just hope Pedersoli will receive this feedback, and correct this issue so other customers will not have to risk ruining an expensive sight by improperly filing or grinding away too much metal.
