All MEC reloaders incorporate features that allow you to produce shotshells that will outperform factory loads at a fraction of the price! These top-quality features include: flip-top measure to permit powder and shot containers to be inserted or removed without spillage. Adjustable rammer tube for applying proper wad-column pressure. Cam-operated crimp for precise crimping and closing pressure. Automatic primer feed. Spindex2 crimp starter for automatic rotation and realignment on the original factory crimp.
The Steelmaster is specially designed and completely equipped to reload steel shotshells. The single-stage Steelmaster features a wide-mouth shot bottle and large diameter metal drop tube for clean, clog-free shot flow. Also, a steel Shot Charge Bar with a rubber insert in the shot cavity that "swallows" shot to prevent jamming and eliminate damage to the shot and charge bar. Power Ring collet resizer completely resizes both high and low brass back to factory specs. Adjustable rammer tube applies proper pressure on the wad column. Exclusive three-stage cam-operated crimp provides precise closing pressure and crimping. Made in USA.

Used it to load waterfowl loads. You will probably need to purchase a charge bar depending on what load plan to load. The crimp didn't close well on some of the hulls, but I believe the shot and the hulls had something to do with it. Gave it a 4 cause the primer feeder only lasted less than a week...But, I can do without it...

every time I tried to crimp a hull it would crush the shells, I went through countless adjustments and it continued to crush the hulls. I got them down to where they were minimal but it still crushed the hulls and I would not want to put those shells through my gun.

I bought this press because there are very few options in regards to 3 1/2" reloaders. I previously used the MEC 600 Jr. and the upgrades are worth the cost. The collet resizer is perfect as I am use to on my 9000G. The next step (auto prime) is not worth any hype it may receive. This system works if you plan to load one round at a time. I prefer to multi-task so if you throw a shell in each station, you end up dropping a new primer on top of the freshly primed shell. I took the auto feed off and threw my primers in a cup and add manually as I did with the MEC 600 Jr. Small problem but want anyone out there who thinks they are getting an auto prime like the 9000 to forget the idea. I have been told that if I want to load progressively, to buy a progressive press. I called MEC and they only make progressive in 2 3/4". The shot drop is near perfect by weight and set-up is a breeze. There may be other presses out there that are capable of loading 3 1/2" but few have the quality and customer service of MEC. Despite my gripes with the auto prime system, this is an amazing press for steel reloaders.
