Excellent Machine, be prepared to fine tune.
Date:
I am extremely happy with my 9000G. If you are considering purchasing one, I would advise that you have at least a little mechanical aptitude and be prepared to learn. I reloaded on a 600jr. for several years and decided to upgrade. The 9000G is a complex and powerful machine. Mine required several adjustments out of the box, including replacing a primer feed that did not fit and fixing the movement of the charge bar. Adjustments were needed at most stations. This did not make me unhappy, and MEC customer service was outstanding when I needed guidance. I am now reloading shells by the hundreds trouble-free and shooting more often as a result. You will almost surely spill some shot and powder as you learn to operate the machine. NEVER pull the handle unless you have a shell under the shot tube or you are SURE the charge bar is locked! Do NOT tip the measure assembly back unless you are hanging on to the stopper in the shot bottle! Oh, and if you pull the handle and don't get any shot in the shell... you didn't get any powder either! To spill shot is human - to spill profoundly large quantities of shot requires a progressive reloader. 4 stars instead of 5 because of the quality control issues. Still a great machine.

trash compared to my old Hornady Apex 3.1
Date:
I used a Hornady Apex 3.1 for almost 20 years and just flat wore it out, and bought the MEC to replace it...what a mistake. Unlike my Apex, the MEC drops powder and shot wether there is a hull at the station or not. I spend more time cleaning up powder and shot than I do reloading. If nothing get messed up with a single hull (like a primer not dropping, which happens often) then it's not too bad, the bar sequences on with the first hull through and off with the last hull, but let one thing go wrong and you're screwed...go get the vaccum out.

MEC® 9000G Reloader
Date:
Once I tweaked the settings on the unit and figured out the timing it worked great. When I produce a shell it looks as good as one a factory produced. The process is easy and the rhythm relaxing. It is fun to use and satisfying to see a loaded shell ejected with each stroke of the handle. I will say the instructions are not very good. The internet provided more detailed information regarding keeping the decapping area clean so the shell drops properly for resizing. You also have to keep the primer area clean. I still gave the unit 5 stars because the instructions were acceptable and the reloader works very well. Start slowly and be methodical and you will be safely reloading in no time.
