The Lee Primer Feed will provide faster, more convenient reloading for your Lee Load-All II Shotshell Reloader. Transfers primers directly from box to feeder. The natural motion of the press keeps them flowing down the through to the priming station.
I have read a few reviews saying this is not worth it and/or its faster to load by hand. I have found COMPLETELY opposite. Not sure how those guys set it up or what primers they are using but I followed the instructions and it works great! It is SO MUCH faster & easier than trying to set them in the press by hand.
#1 - the instructions say do NOT tighten the screw all the way into the base, it needs to be loose to allow the spring to move, turn it snug then loosen a 1/4 turn. #2 - it does work better with certain primers, namely Federals. I havent tried very many, just Feds, Cheddites, and Fiocchis. Without a doubt the Federal's work much, much better. The others work fine too, just not as smooth. I think it because the rims are thinner and the primers hang up on each other, where the rims of the Feds are thicker so they feed alot better. If you have a recipe and can use Feds, I would. I like the way Cheddite fit in my hulls better than Feds., but they shoot the same to me. Even so I will keep using the Feds since they feed better.
As far as using the feeder, it is very easy & fast. Once I punch out the old primer, I just slide a finger, middle or index, under the feed ramp when I'm pulling the shell from the 1st station and do a quick lift. A new primer slides into place right away. Sometimes with the other primers it may stick so I just use my thumb to slide them down the feed ramp, but that takes all of about .5 secs.
If SPEED is your main concern, the Lee Load All is not the choice for you, you want a progressive loader. Using the primer feed I can load about 125 to 150 trap shells in a hour, maybe more. You wont break any speed records with it - but for the price and quality - it cant be beat!
You have to reach around the machine to Tip each primer into place, which isn't any faster than picking one up and placing it so there seems to be no benefit. Additionally it jambs pretty often and then you have to fiddle with it, wasting time. I finally found it faster to grab and place a primer with my left hand while ejecting a new shell with my right. The instructions do say that this works best with a particular brand of primer that I'm not familiar with but I didn't mess with that since I have primers already and don't like finicky gear.
Mine works, but it does not work completely correctly. The spring on it does not push it back up, so it has to be manually pulled back up. Still beats manually loading every single primer.
Product works very well once loaded. Sometimes I have problems with the stem jamming after loading the hopper with the primers. It takes a few trys to get it right. But once loaded it works like a charm
