Purchased the tall version in October 2011. Worked great for a couple months. a little noisy in operation. Really like it. Tried to use it last week and the lower section would not lock up as before. So it was no different than having the short version. disassembled to find the problem and fix in the field. Don't bother the lower tube is sealed and the only way in is with a hacksaw. put back together and used as a short version and now after a couple more days the upper section wont adjust. I will be going back to my old walking stick.
I had seen trigger sticks in shops for years, but never gave them much thought until a friend of mine brought one coyote hunting a few years ago. Ever since then, I am HOOKED!
More often than not, when I was using competing mono-pods, I would carry the pod out to my blind/set, set the length for where I THOUGHT would work, then end up not using it because the coyotes would come out in the wrong place and the pod wouldn't be the right height to get into position.
With the trigger stick, one handed adjustment is fast, easy, and exact. I can get my gun on a coyote anywhere on the field, with rock solid support. They're also very handy for standing shots. I carry mine collapsed while I'm stalking, then can quickly and quietly extend the stick as I'm shouldering my rifle.
Mono-pods beat the heck out of shooting off-hand, but they're hard/impossible to adjust one handed, especially with your rifle on target. With the one-handed operation, the TRIGGER STICK mono-pod beats the heck out of mono-pods!
I have used my trigger stick hundreds of times. I love it. It helps give me stability climbing the mountains when I use it as a walking stick and It is great when you run upon unexpected game and have no where to take a rest. Only problem i found is when you are in a brushy area it is a little noisy when hitting brush. But I would buy it again.
I purchased the tall 3-section monopod in 2010 and have used it through two hunting seasons. I am very pleased with it's construction, design, materials, and performance. The bottom of the stick has a rubber cap to grip the ground, the handle has firm rubber and hard plastic to give a firm comfortable grip, and the inside of the V where you rest the gun has rubber too. The rubber protects your gun and helps the gun really grip and hold steady in the V notch. I have used the stick in weather from 15 degrees to 70 degrees, shooting everything from a flintlock to a 30-06, and the stick has had no malfunctions. My only complaint is the stick is mostly black in color, I wish it came in full camo.
