Smith & Wesson now offers its popular M&P15 semiautomatic rifles in a variety of configurations tailored to specific shooting applications and styles. Each model is chambered in 5.56mm NATO/.223 Remington and has a six-position collapsible stock, chrome-lined 4140 steel barrel, 7075 T6 aluminum receiver, hard-coat black anodized finish and comes with a 30-round magazine.
Available:
  • M&P15OR – This model has a flat-top receiver with an integrated rail and a shorter second rail in front of the forend to accommodate your choice of accessories.
  • M&P15OR-MOE – Identical to the M&P15OR above, but outfitted with a Magpul® MOE adjustable stock, grip and handguard.
  • M&P15TS – {PS..0}{PS..1} 14-1/2" barrel with a 1:7 rate-of-twist and fixed vortex flash-hider for overall length of 16.1". 13" Troy® TRX Extreme Handguard. Folding Magpul MBUS front and rear sights. Magpul MOE stock, PMAG magazine and grip.

After much research I purchased S&W MOE addition and I am very happy with the form fit and function. The only issue is mag pull needs more acc for there forehand grip and maybe come out with a gas piston version, hint hint..... You will be very happy so if your on the fence dont be affraid, just do it, Its a great gun....

M&P 15 OR MOE

This is the first AR I've owned, but since I've spent 23 years in the Army, it's definitely not the first I've fired. The M&P compares favorably to the Colt M4 I carry "at work".
The fit and finish is excellent, controls are laid out identical to the M4/M16 (minus of course the burst function on the selector switch). The MAGPUL furniture is excellent, I much prefer them to the Colt. It even came with a Magul P Mag, which in my mind is superior to any aluminum magazine out there. I trust the P Mags so much I purchased 10, that I used in my last two tours in Iraq.
I've put about three hundred rounds of Lake City XM855 5.56 through this rifle so far. Not a single failure to feed or failure to eject. With an EOTECH XPS 2-0 this rifle is capable of better accuracy than I am.
I can't find a thing to complain about with this rifle, great value for the money.

Reminds me of the M-16 I used in the Army in the '80's. I dont have an optic or a scope. Iron sights for me. You will surprise yourself with the accuracy you will achieve with iron sights, and you will get a better feel of your rifle. My wife has the sport model and loves it. There is a quote from a movie, "The AK-47 is the preferred weapon of your enemy." Thats why I went with the AR, its the all American rifle. Any one with any level experience can fire this rifle and feel good about the results. Ammo isnt that expensive. Add ons are overly abundant, 99% of which, you DONT need. Go with the 15A and enjoy accurate shooting right of the box. The only thing you really need to get is a good quality hard or tactical case. The cheap case that it comes in isnt worth putting my Red Ryder in.
