H&K MP5 A5 Semiautomatic Rimfire Rifle

This authentic replica of the legendary H&K MP5 is the first chambered in .22 LR. Built in Germany, it's equipped with a match-grade precision barrel, metal receiver, a standard MP5 forearm and a retractable stock. Plus, it features a Navy pistol grip, HK-style sights and an imitation three-lug flash suppressor. The 16.1" barrel extends the full length of the gun and the compensator. The high-strength polymer magazine has grips for the spring on both sides making it easy to load. A blow-back system holds the bolt open when the magazine empties. Front sight is adjustable for elevation and comes with interchangeable posts. Rear sight adjusts for windage and elevation. Rotating safety switch.

This gun is well worth the money you will not be dissapointed!!!!Do not I repeat do not shoot low quality ammo you will have jamming issues other then that have a blast.My son is so proud of his colt he has a picture on his phone of it.

I believe the Colt M16SPR is a new model at the local Cabelas Store. It has adjustable, flip up front and rear sights , a rail interface system across the top and around the hand guard, and a 21.2 inch barrel. The safety lever is much improved over the earlier models. It is 90 degrees instead of 180. I did not need to sight this rifle in. It hit point of aim at 25 yards and shot good groups. This gun is alot of fun to shoot with open sights and clay targets were not safe at 50 yards. I am going to have to see what it can do with a scope. My rifle shot Winchester, Remington, Federal and CCI 36 grain and 40 grain 22 LR without any trouble. No jams so far. This includes ammo from the 500 round packs. Only problem was a couple that didn't go off, not the rifle's fault. I have been looking at these rifles from Colt since they came out and I am glad I got this one.

Lots of Fun for Very Little $$$

So far i have put over 1000 rounds through this gun and it has functioned perfectly. Mostly I use the Winchester 555 or CCI Minimag ammo. I did have the same issue with the rear sight as mdoan300 did in that the windage adjustment was all the way over to get it near centered. I was able to find a scope mount (made by MFI) that fits the rifle perfectly to mount a optical sight.

Before I bought this HK MP5 replica, I was research other .22 tactical rifles including the other Umarex replicas (HK 416 & Colt M4), Sig 522, and S&W M&P15-22.
I found very little (almost non-existent) information on the HK MP5 replica, but plenty on the Sig and S&W. Consequently, the Sig and S&W were high on my short list and the Umarex replicas at the bottom.
However, I have always wanted an MP5 and, sad to say, I ended up buying the replica after seeing and holding it. I probably should have stuck to my short list instead of letting emotion get to me.
Anyway, I have put over 600rds through the MP5 and here are my observations:
- the gun does not come sighted from the factory and it was shooting very high and very right
- consequently, I had to move the rear sight all the way to the left to zero on windage; if I need to move the rear sight anymore to the left, then I am pretty much SOL
- the owners manual states to adjust elevation by rotating the rear drum, but it has no instructions on how to properly aim with the ghost ring (I have read that the real MP5 does not use the rear drum apertures for elevation)
- consequently, I want to get a red dot sight; however, as of 5/1 accessories (i.e. mag, claw mount rail, etc) are still not available. Needless to say, I am bit disappointed that this gun has been out on the market for some time now, but the accessories listed in the catalogs and owners manual are nowhere to be found online or in retail stores
- I have fired 40gr Winchester Wildcat and have had no FTF or FTE; however, my gun jams only when a couple of my friends shoot it. I suspect the gun is sensitive to shooting technique
In hindsight, I probably should have stuck with my rational side and gotten the S&W or Sig. However, I like the gun overall. It's a fun plinker and my groupings are fairly good. I am just disappointed a the lack of accessories.
