First day muzzleloading in Ohio in 2011. Had base layer and fleece layer and these (jacket and bibs). I was teetering on too warm. Really! I had a 15 mph wind in my face. Stayed warm from 6 to 8 am when I got a nice buck. He didn't even know I was there. I'm 6 ft 3 in and 230 lbs. I got a 2XL with the plan to layer. Even not layering wouldn't be too big. Perfect fit around the waste/body and length is perfect. I also used a climber so was able to flex and move easily. I was able to get to my inner pockets as needed. I will buy for my wife and kids when they are ready to hunt. Nice product!!! Update - I just bought another set for 2012 for my son and my wife.
Hunted with these bibs 2 seasons Bibs are comfy, quiet, and fit great. Biggest flaw is there is no elastic in the straps, they are just woven and provide no give when moving and bending over This causes the straps to come out of the buckles peridocally. Stiching that holds straps crossed came unthreaded after 1 season. Also no zippers on pockets.
SO CLOSE TO BEING RIGHT -- SIDE VENTS NEED ZIPPERS
Date:October 23, 2011
I bought these for late Oct-early Nov bow season in NY & PA. I was looking for something warmer than my Dakota pants but not as warm has my heavy bibs for late season. The weight and fit is right on but the side vents are totally open with just a one-button clasp at the top -- no fully enclosed zippers! What is the point of wearing bibs to keep your midsection warm if there is an 8" open vent on each side to let the cold air in? I will keep these but will have zippers installed on the sides like my heavy bibs. So close.
These are very comfortable bibs but i would wait until they are on sale to buy them. Great feel and they are not bulky which is a real plus. In winters past I felt like I weighed twice as much with all the bulk of layering warm clothing. these are very fitted. They are not extremely warm on their own but I have base slayers and scent-lok pants to go under them. Great product.
