Exceptional
Date:
I have been an avid whitetail and black bear hunter for the past 25 years. My whitetail country is unique in that it is an old iron mining area. We have many pits and mining dumps which create small canyons, gullies along with a lot of mining dumps. This terrain is extremely rugged. The single largest factor is the subtle changes of the wind due to the changes of the terrain. Most of these winds are the thermals created by the topography of the area. The Firefly performed beyond my expectations!!! The thermals in this area are constantly changing all day long and the Firefly was spot on. I found that the Firefly performed when I needed it the most and that was in the wind conditions which were so subtle that you could not feel them on your face. This is the Firefly's biggest asset, detecting wind thermals that you are unable to detect. I found it interesting that someone would comment on using the Firefly in high wind situations because in high wind situations anyone can detect the wind direction!! The Firefly truely shines in the most critical situations and those are close quarters and subtle wind conditions. The last two years I got my buck through spot and stalk. One 10 pointer the other 12. Both times I hand my rifle in one hand and my Firefly in the other. Solid product that produces results!!

very sensitive and accujrate
Date:
Great for tree stand hunting. Works for general wind direction when moving through woods, but too cumbersome when you have a bull elk answering and you are working him into archery range. small puff bottle with instant wind check is better than waiting for unit to flash wind direction especially when bull is moving toward you. Great unit for what it does.

neat item
Date:
this item is great, but it is not very helpfull. once you set up your blind ..ect. gurenteed the wind will change dirction. so it really doesn't matter what direction the wind is moving it is going to change. now if you are tracking game it will help keep you up wind if you are in a field. in the forest the air is constantly changing direction.

Not Designed for Winds 10mph or Higher
Date:
According to the manufacturers website, the Firefly is not made to work in conditions where the wind is 10mph or higher. Winds in my part of the country will often gust at these higher speeds. The manufacturer does not elaborate on the design which in my judgement is a big red flag. Until this is explained by the manufacturer (I have not asked), I would advise keeping it simple and using a more reliable method to check the wind.
I want to wish everyone a great season. Always leave God's gifts better than you found them.
