The hardest part of this was mounting it so it aligned with the keel of the boat. After that, it has proven to be a help in navigation especially during low visibility periods on a big lake.

We just decide on a correct heading, and then steer the boat accordingly. The compass has an easy to read dial.

One point I would stress, although it is mentioned in the instructions, is to be sure there is no electrical equipement (windshield wiper motor, electronic tachs, etc) in the immediate area of the compass. Whether they are being used or not, the electric units cause this compass to deflect from original headings.

Ritchie Angler Compass

This is the third Ritchie compass I have owned. They all have worked well. The last one lost its fluid after 12 years. Excellent small boat compass. Great to have lighted compass when you are running home in the dark.

Learned to use a compass as a kid and stil find myself looking at this one more than the GPS. Short wire leads for the interal light. Very accurate and a comforf to have.
