Another great Frabill product

About the "electrical tape on the reel handle, it's not electrical tape, and Frabill sells it. It's there because who wants a reel seat on a little ice rod handle? I got the 27" quick tip and it is great for sight fishing, smooth drag, easily handled a four pound walleye.

Reel held on with Electrical Tape?
Date:
I just bought 2 of these. Both of the reels are held on with electrical tape? what? I would have never expected this type of equipment at this price to have electrical tape as a reel attachment...? other wise GREAT stuff!!!

I recently purchased a 24" & 26" and am quite satisfied so far. The quality seems very good especially considering the price. I have weeded through isles of junk combos on the shelf that have a similar cost. The rod has ample backbone with great tip sensitivity. No need for a spring indicator but might not be a bad idea if chasing some sedate bluegills on the heavier rods. I have found the bent wire stand rod holders I use seem to increase sensitivity as they have a bit of spring action built into them. Pulled in a couple of fiesty 10 pound channel cats while targeting perch, crappie and walley and they performed well. Fished 12 hours in below zero temps with limited heat in the shanty and the reel had no hickups even with some ice build up on them. I also like the folded storing position of the reel handle which comes in handy with a crowded bucket. The drag adjustment was smooth and responsive as well. Only thing i wasnt too impressed with was that the reel is mounted with what appears to be electrical tape. This wouldnt seem ideal to me but hey it works and could easily be fixed on the ice. Based on my preliminary use of the product I plan to purchase a 28" rod as well. Frabill, keep the good stuff coming. Please dont lower your quality like many other brands.

This a quality ice combo!!!
Date:
I have two of these rods now. I purchased one last year and it caught many a fish on the ice, but the real story is in its high quality. While I was out last year in January, I lost the rod down a hole to a fish while I was checking another pole. As luck would have it, a friend who was fishing with me snagged it 10 minutes later. The reel was wet and had a lot of mud in it which I couldn't get out. The water froze on the reel along with the mud, but amazingly enough, the reel worked perfectly. And it still did all season long. The rod is strong, sensitve, and a great rod for instant hooksets. But the reel quality makes this combo the real deal!!
