Ross Worldwide Reels Essence FC Fly Rods

  • Exclusive R-2 graphite provides smoothness and precision
  • The four-piece design is sturdy and lightweight
  • Deep brown finish with gold and maroon accents
  • Includes Cordura rod case and rod sock
Don't let its modest price fool you, the affordable Essence FC is the epitome of exceptional casting performance, coveted aesthetics and reserved power. Ross' exclusive proprietary R-2 graphite cultivates greatness in any casting method with its medium-fast action taper. Slightly more progressive than Ross' R-1 graphite, this rod is reliable at short, medium and long ranges. Ross' exclusive proprietary graphite design produces a smooth-casting rod that is both sensitive and precise. Powerful and responsive, these rods deliver the close-in accuracy and river-crossing long-range potential normally reserved for much-higher-priced rods. The four-piece design is, at once, sturdy and lightweight to provide the fish-turning authority you need to avoid interference from rocks, hanging shrubbery and flooded timber, while maintaining a lightweight feel that minimizes casting fatigue. Ultrastrong titanium oxide guides provide durable, friction-reducing performance. This rod has a rich brown finish with subtle gold and maroon accents that catch the eye, and a wear-resistant synthetic cork handle. Every rod is shipped with a Cordura rod case and a protective rod sock. Named after acclaimed fly-fishing master Mel Krieger's instructional tome, "The Essence of Flycasting," each rod in the Essence Series was designed using Krieger's expertise to satisfy the demands of seasoned fly fishermen and beginners alike, setting a new standard for affordably priced fly rods. Manufacturer's lifetime warranty.

Best Rod for the Money!
Date:
As a full time angler and guide, I can honestly say that this medium fast action rod is built for strength and durability.
After testing it on my home waters for quality trout in Colorado, I decided to take it one step further to the large fast paced action in Alaska. While landing giant char and bows I knew then that the FC Fly Rod was one I would never leave home without.

Ross FC Fly Rods

I love my Ross FC 8wt. I use it when I go bonefishing in the Bahamas. Its not super fast but has a really nice progressive action that allows me to present my fly with a light presentation. I love that for the bonefish can be spooky. For this price I will be another.

Ross Essence Fly Rod
Date:
As a guide in Alaska for more than 150 days every season, as well as over 100 more every year in the salt from the Florida Keys to Baja, I demand a lot of my fly fishing gear. Middle of the season last year I had the opportunity to cast the Ross Worldwide Essence FC Fly Rod in a 9 ft. 8 wt. I won't lie to you - although I am a huge fan of Ross Reels, I was sceptical to say the least about them venturing into the world of fly rods. Well you just have to try it to believe it. I was in area of the river where we typically don't have to "bomb" casts to catch the Silver Salmon we were pursuing, but I wanted to see what the rod would do. On short casts, the rod had a very smooth action, but the hidden power to launch casts out to 90 ft. It was a faster action rod, but also very forgiving. When you look at the price point and of course the excellent customer service that comes with any Ross product, I would look closely at this next time you are considering a new rod.
