The Rulon® disc drag offers unrivaled smoothness and powerful braking to take on almost any underwater challenger. The large, knurled drag knob makes it easy to adjust the settings during the heat of battle. A large arbor ensures quick line retrieve and less line memory. The RLS is made of lightweight, yet extremely durable machined aluminum with a black-anodized finish. Oversized handle. Quick-release spool. Reel easily converts from left- to right-hand retrieve. For what I'm fishing (trout on rivers and streams in Utah) this reel is everything I could ask for. Smooth drag, great feel, brings line in fast, and is clean and simple. Great reel!

I've have owned (2) RLS 3 reels now... First one I got about 10 days out of it fishing for silvers in Kodiak AK. 15-18 LB FISH BURNT THE DRAG UP FAIRLY QUICK. Hot fish. Great fishing I figure that reel landed 50 fish before the drag gave up the ghost. This season got another RLS3 and the same thing happened only the drag went out in about 8 days. I couldn't hold any fish back. Overall its quiet, fast line retrieve, but not built for silvers...maybe Reds and pinks. If you need a disposable, cheaper reel for a trip this would work but don't expect to get years out of it.

Excellent Reel - Great Value

I've been a loyal Ross Reel customer for 20 yrs. Saw this reel on sale and picked one up. Recently fished SW WI and caught many trout 16"+ and 2 over 20". Had a chance to test the drag system and WOW I'm impressed. The RLS has quality construction, smooth even drag, easy removal of the "click pin" and a large arbor that picks up line quickly. If you see this reel on sale, do yourself a favor and pick one up!
