A great introductory fly reel, the Cahill is hard to pass up for its features and low price. The offset gear-to-gear disc drag tightens down to get control of hooked fish. An exposed rim allows you to palm the spool. Constructed of durable injection-molded graphite for dependability. It also easily converts from right- to left-hand retrieve.

Poor Quality Product

I purchased one of these reels 2 weeks ago to replace my old fly reel. While I was transfering the fly line and backing to the reel, IT BROKE. The drag system completly fell apart.
Do not purchase this reel unless you want a complete waste of money.

This reel lasted less than 2 hours. While 10 feet in the river, casting, when I was going to reel in, the reel knob was simply missing - had broken off!
Off I went, unreeled my line and backing, and put it back on the reel my grandfather gave me in 1993

Very Disappointed!

I'm usually a big fan of Cabela's products and have never had a problem with the quality of their products, I got a great deal on this reel and was excited to use it. Unfortunately, the second time out the drag just quit working. It appears that the spool does not seat into the drag correctly and so the reel serves as nothing but a line holder. I still managed to catch a lot of nice trout but had to deal with the reel problem all day. This reel will definitely be returned to the store soon.

Problems with line going behind the reel

I bought these reels for both my 15 and 10 year old boys. The first time out, the fly line went behind the reel on my 15 year old's reel. I thought it was something he did wrong (though wasn't sure what). I took the reel apart and got it working again. About the 4th time out I was using my 10 year old's reel and had the same problem.
The reels were bought as Christmas presents, but not used until April - May. As always, Cabela's customer service was great and issued a full refund on return of both of the reels and fly line purchased.
I'm on Cabela's website now looking for new fly reel's for the boys.
