This kit was way too good to me on the wrapping bench. The rod performs beautifully and for the dollar a great investment. The reel seat was very nicely put together and I will most likely be building more in the future.

9 Weight Salmon Rod

Made a 4 piece 9wt salmon rod from the Rainforest fly rod kit.
Performed very well the first two days of fishing until the butt section tip broke off. I would recommend this blank based on it's performance but would upsize the rod weight to a 10 the next time.

Nine Foot Four Piece Eight Weight

When I first recieved my order I was pleased with the quality of all of the components especially the blank itself. Upon further observation however I found that although the components were of good quality they were not matched with the blank that I ordered. The guides were too few and too small for an 8 wt rod and the tip top is too small to even fit onto the tip of the blank. I think that the guide set that was sent would be adequate for a 7 1/2 foot 3 wt. The grip that was supposed to be sent was not the correct one and did not include the fighting but that it was supposed to have with this kit. For these reasons I do not rank this rod kit very high eventhough the individual components are of good quality. I would suggest that if this is the kit that you want I would buy each component seperatly, at least that way you get what you want even if it may cost a little more.

7foot six inch four piece four weight

I have not yet cast this rod yet but, am confident that it will prove satisfactory to my needs, judging by the action of the blank -it is a through action blank with a moderate stiffness
and I gave it four stars because of the above reasons, because I think it will roll cast and spey cast very well.
When the rod is complete and ready for use I will test it with several fly lines and report back on my findings. ----J
