Not well put together

I gave this a 1 star rating because of the way it is put together as a kit. Where we fish the steelhead run 30+ inches on average. I ordered the heavy kit. I came with single food guides. The best part of the kit was the color of the blank awesome and the cork was covered with plastic to protect it. I have not put it together yet cause I am now waiting for double foot guides to come in from another supplier. Cost a additional $24.00. By the time I get through with this kit I could have gotten something a lot better for less money. There are just to many other suppliers of steelhead kits to waste your money on this one. I might add I have used the finish and glue sent with the kit before. It is at best very poor.

Steelhead Rod

I got this rod kit last Christmas. I finished it in I think May. Some of the instructions were difficult to understand. The components of the kit are nice looking like the previous reviewer had said. I am getting ready to use this next week for some steelies in Erie. I went last year; hooked 12, landed 0. Used a 6'6" med. action rod with a cheap pinnacle reel. Reel broke got a nice Okuma. That was my first year. Hopefully this year will be better. Well Balanced Rod.

Fisheagle II Steelhead Spining Rod Kit

As far as the componant parts for the rod, blank, guides, handle, real seat,and winding thread I would give 5 stars. The rod blank itself is very nice looking. The instructions for assembly are good. The only complaint I have is with the brushes that come with the kit to apply the finish to the windings. In my opinion the are too small and too soft to get a good application of the finish. Bt the time I got to the butt wrap the two part finish that was supplied with the kit was geting very near the end of the working time of the finish. On the larger guids and the butt wrap it was difficult to get an even finish. It was necessary to put a second coat of finish on the wraps to make them look good. On the second coat I ended up useing a small foam brush that I cut down to about a half of an inch in width. It worked much better than the supplied brushes. I believe if I would have used the foam brush to begin with I would have gotten acceptable results in one coat.
Overall I am ver happy with the finished product. It's a very nice looking rod.
