baught this as something to do while waiting for the weather to clear, instructions were useless, tip top that came with it was bent and unusable, rod broke near the top while locating the spine. maybe i just got a junk blank but i will never buy another one of these kits.

Handle dosen't fit blank.

I was excited to get the kit an put it together until I found out that the handle needed to be reamed, It wasn't anywher close to fitting th blank. I ordered the smallest reamer that cabela's has....Too big...now I'm going to have to order the stuff to make my own reamer from another company....

Building spinning rods with grandsons

I bought two spinning rod kits this winter to build rods with two of my grandsons. They are 8 and 6, which made the building interesting. We did it and the rods are doing a great job in their young hands. I though it would be better for us to build rods than go out and a buy an entry level stick. They'll take better care of something they helped build and it'll should last froever.

Custom Rod Kits

I bought two rod kits from Cabela's on two different occasions. The directions were generic and would work for many types of rods. Both kits came without the tip-top guides, I had to re-order which held up the making of the rods. When completed, very happy with the results.
