Cabela's IM7 Casting Rod Blanks

Using the latest technology, we created a lightweight, fast-dampening casting rod that's designed for maximum casting distance. High modulus 98% graphite construction ensures these blanks are ultra-sensitive with moderate to fast actions. These blanks are loaded with premium features, yet are very affordable. Charcoal blank with semi-gloss finish ensures a finished rod that looks great, and will perform for years.

I forget which of the #17 blanks i bought, but i was most impressed with it. It definitely falls in the category of a typical magnum bass rod taper with a fast action. It may not be the lightest blank on the market but it's still very sensitive and makes a fantastic rod. It's very RX7 feeling, if you're familiar with them.

The best blank for the money

Period. I have built several of these blanks ranging from six to seven feet and have used them for everything from bass to salmon. Very strong & light. Always straight as an arrow and tough as nails when complete. I will continue to use these blanks as long as they keep making them, which I hope is a good long while. This is a winner. I have used loomis, sage, shakari, graphite usa, and more and these actually compare very well if not just as good. I just wish there were more size options.
