A GREAT blank for trout
Date:
Have built many fly rods, mostly 3-6 wts. I find the Matrix blanks are light, responsive and high quality. The rod loads appropriately and handles double nymph rigs with split shot and indicator. I'm on my 5th Matrix build and already looking forward to the next. Last year I took a 23" spring creek brown trout on a Matrix 4 wt. What a hoot!
At these prices you can't beat the value. Do yourself a favor and buy this blank!

This blank works really well. It's got good strenth and dampens well. My only complaint is the matrix portion of the rod is only on the first section, this is a cosmetic problem but still I thought the whole blank was matrix.

I guide on the Tuolomne river in CA. This is my 3rd blank with one of them bought in case something happens to the other one. Also made one for the wife and added a 9 ft 5 wt for myself. Best blank/rod I have ever used!!! bar non. It is soft and forgiving but never colapses when you need to make a longer cast I just plain love it!!!! Wes
