    We bought our first 17 HMR this Christmas and purchased Hornady ammunition to complement it - two great choices. It is fun for the kids to shoot and hits where you aim. We keep chickens and now and then lose one to a fox but this trend looks like it is about to end. My wife (who has never shot anything in her life) hit a red fox at 70 yrds and dropped it on the spot. The ammunition did its job and now we have a salted hide ready for tanning. This is great ammunition and we have fresh eggs to boot.

    Great .17 Ammo

    I am new to the .17 HMR and was a bit scepticle to tell the truth. I figured I would give the Hornady ammo a try as it was on sale at the time. I went varmit hunting (marmots and prarie dogs) and was amazed at the accuracy and range I could shoot with such a small round. I made multiple kill shots at 200+ yards, but the majority were under 100 yards. There is a huge difference between this round and the standard .22 LR. It is a little light for bigger animals. We had a porcupine chewing up hoses on our vehicles, so I used the .17 to take care of him, but it took 4 or 5 shots to bring him down. Overall, a great round for smaller varmits. Probably a bit light for coyotes and larger varmits. I have not used any other .17 HMR ammo but I don't think you can go wrong with this round.

    Consistent, accurate, dependable. What else is there to say? I enjoy shooting the .17hmr at the range, and the rifle enjoys shooting Hornady's offering. Factor in the great price when they are on sale (I always stock up) and you have a winning combination.
