I have used these lures for the past 5 years, mostly in southern Ontario. Although I have taken many pike, up to 44 inches with this lure, it has also been excellent for smallies and an occasional walleye. Yes you will lose a tail but the can be repaired with a match and a curley tail. I laso have taken a number on the same lure until it is plain worn-out. It doesn't last like a wodd/plastic lure but has that "natural" appearance I like. Great pike lure.
With the addition of a short-striker tail hook it's a good lure. Fish eat it like candy. Without the trailer hook, fish chew the tail off and you're left with a colorful lump of plastic that fish ignore. (I use an appropriate size snelled hook and fasten it to the loop on the lure with a split-ring, or fasten snap swivel through lure loop and snell loop)
I have had very good luck with all the storm products I have. Game fish like storm swim baites. Ice is not all gone yet but will be soon and I expect to catch some large fish on these very real looking baites.
We fished this lure in a lake that was supposed to have only Pike in N Ontario. This lure far and away outfished any lure in any of our boxes. The only reason Im not giving it five stars is that the tail seems to get bitten off easily. Im not sure there is much they can do about that and keep the action.
