Castaic Boot Tail Rainbow Trout Swimbait

  • A versatile, super-realistic swimbait
  • Boot-tail design for a tail-based swimming action

  • Real-looking, bulging eyes and raised gill plates
Cast it, troll it or jig it – no matter how you choose to fish this super-realistic swimbait, results wind up in the livewell. Its soft plastic body is built around a special internal weight that will take it down to where the big fish are. Really good pike lure
Date:
This lure sat in my tackle box a long time. Thought it was too big, too soft, etc. Finally, put it on just for fun. Within an hour or so, it caught a 10 lb pike, my best of the year! He basically swallowed it whole. This lure has a wonderful swimming action and survived the big guy with just a small chunk missing. Note that mine was bass colored, a good match to the smallmouth in the area.

SWIMBAIT
Date:
FOR AN INEXPENSIVE SWIMBAIT THIS IS AN EXCELLENT CHOICE. HAVE USED IT FOR LARGE STRIPERS IN A RIVER THAT IS STOCKED WITH RAINBOWS AND WORKED WELL AND STOOD UP TO SEVERAL FISH. AS WOULD EXPECT WITH A SOFT BAIT, IT WOULD NOT LAST LONG WITH A TOOTHY FISH BUT FOR BASS AND SIMILAR SPECIES DOES THE JOB. HAVE SEVERAL SWIMBAITS THAT ARE CONSIDERABLY MORE EXPENSIVE BUT WOULDNT HESITATE TO PULL THIS OUT OF THE TACKLE BOX INSTEAD.

6" Rainbow Trout
Date:
I bought this bait looking for a trout-imitating bait for hunting lunker bass. I have a few Northern Michigan lakes picked out stocked with trout and containing largemouth. But, onto the review. On a recent camping trip to Cooke Dam Pond I found myself fishing a deep flat (8-12 feet) with sparse stands of cabbage. I was using another swimbait but needed something heavier. I took this out of the box and snapped it on a steel leader taking precaution not to lose my new bait to the jaws of a northern if my bait and its toothy mouth crossed paths. On the third cast I got a strike and she missed it! I dropped my rod tip and covered my face in disgust. I picked the rod up and found the tip bouncing hard! I set the hook and the fish dove under the boat. I pulled back and led it to the side of the boat went down to pick up the 8lb northern on my swimbait and she jumped and dove back to the abyss. I pulled up my line and found my bait to be almost sliced in half slightly behind the hook! But a short visit to Dr. Krazy Glue fixed her and she's is ready for another bout with a large fish. A good bait but a little easy to tear with northerns and toothed fish on the line. All-in-all a good bait.
