Leupold’s-exclusive FireDot illuminated reticle gives you a bright, clear aiming point in any lighting condition. With eight intensity levels to choose from, it provides the precise illumination needed to match the conditions. A proprietary motion sensor automatically deactivates the illumination after five minutes of inactivity to conserve battery life and reactivates it as soon as motion is detected. A common CR-2032 coin-cell battery provides a remarkably long run time. Plus, fiber-optic light pipe eliminates the need for an eyepiece-based control module. Leupold’s legendary Index Matched Lens System™ combines with edge-blackened, lead-free lenses for astonishing clarity and light transmission. Extreme fast-focus eyepiece ensures optimal diopter adjustment in the field. 30mm main tube and finger-click adjustments assure maximum adjustment precision. Tension on the battery holder required adjustment. I expected better out-of-the-box quality at this price.

by far the best scope for any money,3x9x40 on the .223,3x9x40 on the .280,3x9x50 on the bar 308,and a 3x9x50 on the new benelli r-1 30.06.....i have other leupold scopes,but these are the "best"......

Sometimes I wonder what takes us so long to catch on. It's been a long time waiting for this system, and at a good price, keep the money here.
I put this system on my Weatherby 300 and it didn't work. The long action is to long for this short tube.
When I put it on my .325 WSM everything worked great. This is my "go to" pig and nasty weather rifle.
Much lighter and a deadly combo. 200 grn. AB @ 2825 fps with 1" groups. What else do you need?
Oh the Ziess that was on the .325 is now on my Ruger 375. But that's another story.

I just bought the VX-R in 3-9 x 40, what a great scope. I also have a VX-III in 4.5-14 x 50 and in my opinion, you get what you pay for. Leupold makes awesome scopes. I was unsure how much difference the red dot would make, but after sighting in my Browning BAR, the red dot enables you to really see the center of the crosshairs. I haven't been able to use it on game yet, but I'm sure in low light situations, it will truly "shine"! Plus, with this scope you also get a 30mm tube, this scope is a bargain!
