Great performance on a bull moose

Shot a Newfoundland moose at 240 yards with a 180 grain Remington Safari A-frame in Cal.30-06. Bullet went through left sholder, heart, and rib on right side and lodged in right leg. One shot--one dead moose. Recovered bullet intact that was a perfect mushroom with no apparent weight loss.

8MM Remington Mag, Super cartridge, great bullet.

Thank you Cabela,s, 8MM Rem Mag is getting harder to get by the day. With the brass being hard to get I stock up on a regular basis.

One of the most overlooked cartridges in the past 30+ years. The Remington Premier A Frame in the 8MM Mag round is a great all around cartridge for all North American Big Game. The 200 grain bullet is effective for everything from White Tails to Bull Moose. Shoots flat at a high velocity for a large bullet and retains a large percentage of energy. One thing I have experienced with reloading the 8 mm Rem Mag is that their is a small choice of larger grain weight bullets. The tried and true for me is the Swift 200 grain and the older Sierra 220 grain HPBT. The Sierra 220 grain bullet has the highest ballistic coefficient of any 8MM bullet I have found and shoots very flat with miniscule groups at 250 yards. I practice on a regular basis at 500 yards and see 2.5 inch groups when the wind is calm. I personally have had 3 one shot kills at well over 350+ yards that take but just one step. It is impressive to see a varmint evaporate at 500 yards, not much left but it is incredible to see. Wall to Wall baby, it kills them all. It is a shame that I have a firearm with a cartridge that has such good long range potential and most of the game I have taken in the last 30 years were 25 to 100 yards out. Never have to track them. The 8MM Rem Mag can do it all in North America.

Worst bullet I have ever shot.

I can't get a grouping at 100 yards. With one click of adjustment on my scope the bullet either doesn't move or it jumps 2 inches. I then tested some reloaded ammo and was able to drive nails. I could probably hit an Elk or Moose at 100 yards. But, I wouldn't trust it beyond that. At least I could hit a 10 inch target, just not where you should. BTW everything is tight on the rifle.
