My son and I are target shooters only, and I am amazed at the accuracy and reliability of this "06" ammo. We shot @ 150 yards for the first time recently with great results, nice groups and no feed or ejection problems. Getting more soon.
Kudos HSM. I had heard alot of negative things about HSM from others but had always had good luck with their .223 ammo. I originally bought a box of the 165 grn 30.06 as fouling ammunition rather than wasting the higher priced stuff. They have never failed to shoot, load, or extract reliably. For kicks an giggles one day while shooting I decided to pattern it and compare it to the premium stuff I was using. To date it has shot the tightest pattern out of my Kimber, 3/4 of an inch at 100 yds. I had preferred to shoot the premium bullets rationalizing that they would be more accurate than the "bargain" ammo. I am now using the HSM cartridges as my deer cartridge and just bought a box of the 180 grn to see if it patterns as accurately. If it does then I will have found my elk cartridges as well.
The brass is quality brass with no dents or dings, bullets appear well seated and tight as well as uniform. Never a problem feeding, firing, or extracting. Don't let the no frills packaging fool you, this is a great cartridge at a great price!
My Model 70 loves this stuff. I have tried lots of other ammo, some much more expensive. I have shot several groups of 3/4 to 1 inch at 100 yards with it, but today had a 3 shot group that was 3/8 inches center to center. Have killed 3 black bears with it in 3 years of hunting with it. 165 grain SPBT is awesome.
