External puck needed, April 15, 2007
By BeerNB8 from Chicago

"I originally thought it was cool to have an internal puck, but after only a few outings, I realized the reception is a problem.
Otherwise, I like the features of the unit. Reliable reception would have made it a winning purchase. Looks like I'm going to need to spend $200 on an external puck to go along with this unit."

Great upgrade from the shades of grey monitor., January 14, 2007
By GLR1 from Potomac River

"My unit works great. My boat came with an external antenna. With the 334’s setup menu I made the external antenna the default antenna and I have the internal antenna as a backup. The sonar is outstanding and I love the brightness of the color monitor."

Don't buy an internal antennae GPS unit!, December 20, 2006
By MinnesotaFisherman from Eagan, MN

"I bought two LMS-334C iGPS units last spring.

The internal GPS always seems to be searching for satellites. If I had to do it again, I'd go for the external puck mount"

Lowrance 334c, November 22, 2006
By Max45 from Florida

"Sonar works fine. Have experienced difficulty interpreting the GPS since the written instructions, at least to me, are not entirely clear. Pages and Menu are not self-explanatory. A better index would help for the written instructions.
Installed Navionics Premier which is a disappointment. If your favorite lake in not included in Premier, all you get is a yellowish background and no lake detail; not even the lake's outline. You have to go back into the system menu and revert back to Lowrance's maps. Maybe, with more use, I can figure out how to get the GPS to lock onto my position and scroll so I can see the entire lake as I am moving. At times I hae to scroll manually to keep the lake on the screen while running which is dangerous."

Lowrance LMS 334c, November 10, 2006
By hedleysbow from Sokane, WA

"I have just started using the Lowrance LMS 334c w/GPS last summer. I like the internal GPS model because you don't have to mount a GPS antenna on your boat. I'v set up this unit to quick disconnect so if I leave my boat in a parking lot or dock somewhere unsecured I can easily unplug and remove the whole unit which includes the battery I've mounted underneath the sonar unit in a battery box which I can secure in the car or hotel room, etc. The features are endless and can be a bit complicated to use but most things come easily. The color graphing is impressive and has excellent resolution. My favorite selling point was the low price after comparing other similar brands and more costly Lowrance models."
