Fish Elite 640c sonar/GPS meets expectations, April 8, 2008
By MickD from Laingsburg, Michigan

"I have used it twice now and find it a very good product that performs as advertised:

- Excellent color display with very good resolution-very sensitive, can easily see my lure when jigging, and the fish are easy to detect. I always have fish icons turned off!

- A Lakemaster Michigan map chip was plugged in and started to play instantly with no problems.

- Most GPS and sonar functions are controlled intuitively on the unit-it is very easy to learn compared to most GPS units I've owned.

- The GPS seems very accurate and fast-when trolling at 3 mph, then shifting to neutral, the GPS senses and displays the change in speed within 2-3 seconds. If a GPS is going to struggle, it will be at slow speeds, and this one doesn't seem to have problems with low speeds."

Terrible Unit - Technical Problems!, October 10, 2007
By ArkLaTexMan from Texarkana, AR

"Eagle Electronics was unable to resolve problems associated with this unit and REFUNDED my original purchase price. The 642 igps unit problems included deleted waypoints, power supply failures and "magenta" screen problems. This was a very frustrating problem because I have owned Eagle units for many years and found them to be reliable and a good value. I even purchased another Eagle 642 igps unit from Cabelas to use while the original unit was in for MULTIPLE repairs and this unit also developed the "magenta" screen problem within two months. THANKS to Cabelas for their 60 day return policy on electronics! I was able to return the second Eagle 642 igps unit on day 59 without questions and I immediately purchased the Lowrance 522 igps unit. IF YOU HAVE THIS UNIT, BACKUP YOUR WAYPOINTS ELECTRONICALLY OR HARD COPY!"

Worth the wait..., April 24, 2007
By JWFOBA from Gaithersburg, MD

"The Eagle 640C is an advantage. Combined with the 'Hot Maps' card, you can safely navigate most inland waters using the detailed maps and accurate GPS display. The map upgrade that comes with the Navionics card makes finding new fishing spots a breeze and the sweet sonar capabilities surely will increase the number of good days on the water.

I was going to buy the Lowrance 520C but this unit is identicle with a lower price. I recommend it."
