"I have used a Humminbird 300TX with the Wide-Side transducer since 1999 that I purchased from Cabelas. I have it mounted on the front end of my boat with the transducer on the trolling motor. I fish mainly for hybrid stripers and use the wide-side setting to help detect schools of the hybrids in open water. It has worked for me successfully a number of times. I recently broke the original transducer while docking so the unit that I purchased recently is a replacement. I would recommend a wide-side depth-finder for anyone fishing in open water for schooling fish."

"Wow, I fish for Smallmouth Bass along the banks of local lakes and the fishfinder usually doesn't help me that much. But with the Wide Side transducer I can see the fish holding on the shore structure and the fish that are suspended too. I love this addition to my fishing gear."
