Maine CWP Training will be conducting the NRA certified Personal Protection in the Home course at Cabela's, Maine. This course gives women and men the prerequisite knowledge, skills, and attitude essential for the safe use and handling of a handgun for protection of self and innocent others. Not seen before, 3-Hour "Firearms and the Law: Possession, Ownership and the Use of Deadly and Non-Deadly force presented by distinguished attorney John Chapman. This is a four hour non-shooting course that teaches students the basic knowledge, skills, and explains the attitude necessary for the safe handling and storage of firearms and ammunition in the home. Students are taught the NRA’s three rules for safe gun handling; primary causes of firearms accidents; firearm parts; how to unload certain action types; ammunition components; cleaning; care; safe storage of firearms in the home; and the benefits of becoming an active participant in the shooting sports. Students will receive the NRA Home Firearm Safety handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Basic Firearm Training Program brochure, course completion certificate. (Lesson Plan 6-90, reprint 12-08). After the completion of this class you will receive the lecture Firearms and the Law, Possession, Ownership, and the Use of Deadly Force; as taught by Certified Law Enforcement Firearms Instructors. This course meets the State of Maine concealed weapon permit requirements as well as the requirements for obtaining a State of Florida concealed weapon permit. Our retail program supports non profit 501(C ) (3) organizations directly related to the outdoors and are located within 100 miles of the Scarborough store. All requests must be MAILED on official letterhead of the beneficiary at least forty-five days prior to the event date. Requests can be mailed to:
